Ingredients
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/4 c. plus 2 Tbsp. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
Directions

1Preheat oven to 400°.

2Mix cinnamon and sugar in small bowl and set aside.

3Cream shortening and sugar; add egg.

4Mix until smooth.

5Blend dry ingredients and stir into creamed mixture. Roll mixture into balls the size of walnuts.

6Roll balls in sugar/cinnamon mixture until covered.

7Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

8Bake for 8 to 10 minutes (cookies will puff up at first, then flatten out).

9Cool on cooling rack.

10Makes about 2 1/2 dozen 2-inch cookies.
