- 8 slices white bread, crusts removed
- 3/4 cup dried mixed fruit
- 60 g butter
- 1/2 cup orange marmalade
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/2 cup cold milk
Directions

1Break bread into small pieces.

2Place in a bowl and cover with cold water.

3Soak 30 minutes, drain well, squeeze moisture from bread.

4Place dried fruit, butter, marmalade, egg, nutmeg and vanilla in a bowl.

5Add bread, mix well.

6Blend in enough milk to make a stick consistency.

7Pour into greased 18 cm square tin.

8Bake in moderate oven 180 C for 1 hour or till firm.

9Rest in tin for 10 minutes then turn out.

10Delicious hot or cold.
