- 3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. soda
- 2 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 c. butter, softened
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/4 c. milk
- 1/4 c. water
- 1 egg, beaten
Directions

1Sift flour, soda and cream of tartar into a large bowl.

2Work in butter with fingers until of fine meal consistency.

3Add sugar; blend thoroughly.

4Combine milk and water; stir into flour mixture to form medium-soft dough.

5Press dough lightly into 10 x 8-inch rectangle on lightly floured surface.

6Cut into 1 x 3-inch triangles.

7Brush tops with egg; place on baking sheet.

8Bake in preheated 400° oven for 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve hot with butter or jam.
