- 1 pkg. yeast (1 Tbsp.)
- 1/4 c. water (100~)
- 3/4 c. scalded milk
- 6 Tbsp. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 3 c. flour
Directions

1Soften yeast in warm water (100°).

2Combine milk, sugar and shortening; add salt.

3Cool to lukewarm and add yeast and egg. Gradually stir in flour; mix until smooth.

4Let rise until double in bulk, about 1 1/2 hours.

5Roll on floured surface until very thin.

6Cut into shapes with a knife and deep fry in fat* until golden brown.

7Roll in sugar and cinnamon or powdered sugar.
