- enough shortening for frying
- 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 whole egg plus 2 yolks
- 1 c. sour cream
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3/4 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 c. sugar
Directions

1Put enough shortening into deep frying kettle to fry doughnuts. Sift flour, add salt, baking powder, soda and nutmeg.

2Beat eggs. Add sugar and beat.

3Add sour cream.

4Add to dry mixture.

5Remove 1/2 of dough to pastry cloth.

6Roll about 1/4-inch thick.

7Cut with doughnut cutter.

8Fry in hot shortening (370°).

9Drain.

10Roll in powdered sugar or dip in doughnut glaze.
