Ingredients
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. instant potato flakes
- 2 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. RapidRise yeast
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 6 c. bread flour
Directions

1Grease a large bowl.

2In another bowl, mix all ingredients and make a stiff batter.

3Place dough in greased bowl and brush some oil on top of the dough.

4Cover with a cloth and let set in warm place until it doubles.

5Do not refrigerate!

6Push dough down and knead well.

7Divide into 3 or 4 loaves.

8Knead each loaf 8 to 10 times.

9Place in greased loaf pans.

10Oil top of each loaf.

11Cover and let rise until just about doubled.

12Bake at 300° for 35 to 40 minutes.

13Bread will sound hollow when done.

14Remove from pans. Brush with butter or margarine and let cool on wire rack.
