  • 1 c. cornmeal
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 c. sourdough starter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar

Directions

    Mix together in a large bowl the cornmeal, sugar and salt. Scald milk and add butter.

    Let butter melt in hot milk.

    Pour liquid over the cornmeal and mix well.

    Cool to lukewarm.

    Stir in sourdough starter and beaten egg.

    Add soda and cream of tartar. Pour into buttered 8-inch square pan and bake at 425° for 30 to 35 minutes.
