Sourdough Corn Bread

  • 3/4 c. sourdough starter
  • 1/2 c. powdered milk
  • 1 c. warm water
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. cornmeal
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. soda

Directions

    Mix sourdough, powdered milk and warm water with flour in a large bowl.

    Set in warm place 3 to 4 hours.

    In small bowl, cream the butter and sugar.

    Add egg and beat well.

    Pour over starter mix.

    Add cornmeal, salt and soda.

    Fold ingredients into starter mix until well blended; do not beat.

    For thick bread, pour into an 8-inch square pan.

    For thin bread, pour into 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake in 425° oven for 20 to 25 minutes.
