Spaghetti Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 c. fresh parsley, chopped
  • large can tomato juice
  • 4 to 5 cloves fresh garlic, chopped
  • 3 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 large onion
  • 6 Italian sweet sausages or 1 to 2 lb. ground round or any meat of your choice
  • 1 (12 oz.) tomato paste
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • pinch of soda
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano

Directions

    Chop onion and garlic fine; brown in 3 tablespoons olive oil in frypan until soft.

    Add 1 can tomato juice, tomato paste (rinse can) and tomato sauce.

    Add fresh parsley and pinch of soda; stir. Add salt to taste.

    Cover and simmer.

    Fry sausage or brown hamburger; drain.

    Cut sausage up; add to sauce after it has simmered 1 hour.

    Add basil, oregano and stir.

    Cook 2 to 3 hours, cooking uncovered the last hour.
