Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. salad oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 c. chopped celery
  • 1 1/4 c. long grain rice
  • 1 (No. 2) can tomatoes (2 1/2 c.)
  • 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
  • 2 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 bay leaf
  • dash of cayenne pepper
  • 2 c. hot water
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 can beef bouillon

Directions

    Brown oil, garlic and celery.

    Mix rice, tomatoes, tomato paste, salt, bay leaf, cayenne pepper and 2 cups hot water and add to celery.

    Bring to boil and simmer for 10 minutes.

    Brown the beef, add next 3 ingredients and combine with rice.

    Bake at 350° for 35 minutes in a 3-quart casserole dish.
