Ingredients
- 3 slices bacon
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 c. green pepper, chopped
- 1/4 c. celery, chopped
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. packaged precooked rice
- 2 c. canned tomatoes (1 lb. can), chopped
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions

1Fry bacon in heavy 1-quart saucepan, drain off fat.

2In 1 tablespoon drippings, lightly brown onion, peppers and celery. Add water and salt. Bring to boil.

3Stir in rice, tomatoes, sugar and Worcestershire.

4Simmer until rice is just tender, stirring occasionally.

5Crumble bacon and stir into rice mixture.

6Sprinkle cheese over top.

7Cover and cook over very low heat until cheese melts.

8Serves 6.
