  • 34 teaspoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 12 teaspoons ginger, ground
  • 1 12 teaspoons nutmeg, ground
  • 6 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 12 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 14 cup molasses
  • 1 tablespoon brandy

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Combine the flour, ginger, and nutmeg.

    In a large mixing bowl, cream vegetable shortening and brown sugar.

    Beat in the molasses and brandy.

    Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.

    Drop the dough by spoonfuls 2-1/2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.

    Bake 5 to 6 minutes until golden brown.

    As soon as the cookies are cool enough to handle, remove them from the baking sheet and roll up around metal cone shapes.
