  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 1 1/4 c. cane syrup
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

    Preheat oven to 300°.

    Using electric mixer, cream Crisco and sugar.

    Add syrup.

    Sift together spices, salt, baking soda and flour.

    Alternate flour mixture with eggs and buttermilk to sugar mix.

    Pour into lined greased 10-inch tube pan.
