- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup packed golden brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons Chinese five spice powder (a blend of ground anise, cinnamon, star anise, cloves and ginger, available in the spice section of)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 4 cups pecan halves
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°F.

2Butter 2 large baking sheets.

3Melt 1/4 cup butter in large skillet over medium heat.

4Add brown sugar, 1/4 cup water, salt and spices; stir until sugar dissolves.

5Add nuts to sugar mixture and cook until syrup thickly coats nuts, stirring frequently, about 5 minutes.

6Transfer nuts to prepared baking sheets.

7Bake until golden, about 5-10 minutes.

8Cool (Can be prepared 3 days ahead. Store in airtight container at room temperature).
