- 12 medium head red cabbage
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion
- 1 medium tart apple
- 3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 14 teaspoon pepper
- 18 teaspoon ground cloves
Directions

1Bring a large pot of salted water to boil.

2Meanwhile, dice cabbage.

3Boil cabbage for 1 minute, drain and return to pot.

4Chop onion and slice apple.

5Add with remaining ingredients to the pot of cabbage.

6Cover and simmer until cabbage is tender, about 1 hour.

7Remove bay leaf and serve.
