Spinach Cheese Strata

- 1 loaf French bread
- 1 c. chopped onion
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. chopped frozen spinach (8 c. fresh)
- 1 tsp. salt
- pinch of pepper
- 6 oz. shredded Swiss cheese (1 1/2 c.)
- 3 eggs
- 2 1/2 c. milk
- 1 tsp. dill weed
Directions

1Cut bread in thin slices; line bottom of buttered 6 cup baking dish with 1/2 the slices.

2Saute onion in butter 5 minutes. Squeeze spinach dry and add to pan with dill, 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper.

3Stir.

4Spread spinach over bread; sprinkle with 1 cup cheese.

5Arrange remaining bread, overlapping on top.

6Beat eggs; stir in milk and remaining 3/4 teaspoon salt.

7Pour over bread. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.

8Cover; chill at least 1 hour or overnight.

9Bake, uncovered, at 325° for 45 minutes or until puffed and golden.

10If browns fast, cover with foil.

11Let stand 10 minutes.
