  • 3 cups dried whole green peas, split
  • 4 quarts water
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped (with leaves)
  • 2 cups carrots, diced
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 bay leaf
  • salt and pepper

    Simmer ham bone with peas in water for 2 hours.
