Ingredients
- 1 (1 lb) package dried split peas
- 1 cup diced carrot
- 1 cup finely chopped onion
- 12 cup pealed diced parsnip
- 12 cup chopped celery
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 12 teaspoon salt
- 12 teaspoon pepper
- 5 12 cups chicken broth
- 3 cups water
- 2 lbs smoked ham hocks
- 1 teaspoon curry
Directions

1Combine peas, carrotts, onion, parsnip, celery, thyme, salt, pepper, broth and the water.

2Add Ham Hocks, submerging them in mixture.

3Cover, cook on low heat setting for 2 hours until peas are very soft.

4Remove ham hocks; skim fat from surface of soup.

5Trim fat from hocks.

6Cut meat from bones and shread; stir into soup.

7Ladle into 6 bowls.

8Garnish each serving with garlic croutons and chopped parsley.
