Split Pea Soup

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. split peas
  • 1/2 c. chopped celery
  • 1/2 c. chopped onion
  • water to cover
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 c. chopped carrots
  • ham bone or chopped ham

Directions

    Soak peas overnight.

    Combine peas, celery, onions, carrots and ham.

    Cover ingredients with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat.

    Cover with lid and simmer until vegetables are tender.

    Water may be added if soup becomes too thick.
