  • 1 lb. Redbow split peas
  • 2 1/2 qt. cold water or water from vegetables
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • 2 medium sized potatoes, grated
  • 1 onion, grated
  • 1 tsp. celery salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 lb. frankfurters, cut into 1/2-inch pieces

Directions

    Wash split peas thoroughly. Add water; cover kettle and bring to a boil. Add the grated carrot, potatoes, onion and seasonings. Simmer about 2 hours or until split peas are tender. Strain; reheat. Add frankfurters and simmer about 10 minutes. Serves 6.
