- 2 Tbsp. fat
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 c. finely diced onion
- 1/2 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 c. uncooked rice
- 5 to 6 c. water
- 1 c. finely diced carrots
- 1 c. finely diced potatoes
- 1 to 2 tsp. soy or Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
Directions

1Brown garlic in fat in 10-inch skillet.

2Remove garlic, then add onion and beef.

3Cook until browned.

4Add rice and water. Simmer, uncovered, over low heat 40 minutes.

5Add carrots and potatoes.

6Continue simmering until tender (20 minutes).

7Add seasonings.

8Serve hot, garnished with parsley.
