- 2 pkg. yeast
- 2 c. warm water
- 4 c. flour
- 2 c. mashed potatoes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. melted lard or shortening
- 5 eggs, beaten
- 6 c. flour
- 3 sticks butter, softened
- 1 lb. brown sugar
- cinnamon
- raisins
- nuts
Directions

1Mix the first 3 ingredients together; let stand 1 hour, then add the next 6 ingredients.

2Let rise 2 hours.

3Roll out 1/2-inch thick.

4Spread dough with remaining ingredients.

5Roll up dough like jelly roll and make 1-inch slices.

6Put molasses in pan to cover bottom.

7If you want, sprinkle with raisins and nuts.

8Place dough slices in pan and let rise until double in size, about 1 hour.

9Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until done.

10Turn buns out on plate while still warm.
