  • 1.5 cups self rising flour
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 9 oz. fresh strawberries, halved
  • 2 tablespoon light brown sugar

    1. Preheat the oven to 325F.

    2. Grease and line an 8-inch round cake tin.

    3. Add the flour, butter, sugar, egg, milk, vanilla extract in an electric mixer bowl and mix with low speed for 30 second and continue to mix with medium speed for 2-3 minutes, or until well combined.

    3. Pour the batter in the greased and lined cake tin.

    4. Place the fresh strawberry halves (cut side down) gently on top of the batter and scatter with the brown sugar.

    5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until a cake tester comes out clean.

    6. Cool in cake tin on a wire rack for 5 minutes and remove the cake from tin and continue to cool further on the wire rack.

    7. It is best served warm with whipped cream.
