  • 1 c. strawberry jam
  • 3/4 c. butter
  • 3 Tbsp. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda (stir in milk until foamy)

    Cream butter and sugar slowly, creaming well.

    Add egg yolks and jam.

    Beat well.

    Add gradually the flour and spices (which have been sifted together).

    Stir in milk and soda, then fold in beaten egg whites.
