Strawberry Truffle Pie

  • 1 baked pie pastry shells (9 inch)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or pieces)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, cubed and softened
  • 2 tablespoons orange liqueur or 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 14 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 lb fresh strawberries, stems removed and halved
  • 14 cup red currant jelly, melted
  • whipped cream (optional)

Directions

    In a small saucepan, combine chocolate and butter; cook/stir over med-low heat until melted.

    Add in cream cheese and liqueur; cook/stir until smooth.

    Remove from heat; stir in powdered sugar.

    Spread chocolate mixture in bottom of baked pie shell.

    Arrange strawberries, stemmed ends down, on chocolate layer.

    Brush berries with melted jelly; cover and chill at least 4 hours.

    Let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes before serving.

    Serve with whipped cream, if desired.
