- 1 1/4 c. warm water (not hot)
- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 2 Tbsp. soft shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 c. sifted flour (plus)
Directions

1Heat oven to 375°.

2Dissolve yeast in warm water.

3Add shortening, salt, sugar and half the flour.

4Beat 2 minutes.

5Add remaining flour and blend until smooth.

6Place in greased bowl and cover with towel, let rise 30 minutes in warm place.

7Punch down. Put in 2 loaf pans (greased), cover and let rise for 40 minutes. Bake until brown.
