  • 1 lb. fresh string beans
  • 1 Tbsp. Crisco oil
  • 1 1/2 tsp. garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • parsley (for garnish)

Directions

    Snip ends off string beans and wash in cold water; snip string beans in half.

    Boil string beans with salt for 3 to 5 minutes. Cool string beans with cold water.

    Put oil in pan on high.

    When oil is hot, put in garlic, quickly stirring and turning with spatula (about 30 seconds).

    Add string beans, water, sugar, basil and salt; keep turning with spatula until heated (about 1 to 2 minutes).

    Add parsley and serve.
