Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/4 lb. ground pork
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 3/4 c. cooked rice
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 12 large cabbage leaves
  • 2 Tbsp. Wesson oil
  • 1/4 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. lemon juice

    Combine first 6 ingredients and one can tomato sauce.

    Soak cabbage leaves in boiling water 4 minutes.

    Drain.

    Place equal amounts meat on each leaf.

    Roll up; fold end over and fasten with toothpicks.

    Brown in hot Wesson oil in heavy skillet.

    Mix the remaining can of tomato sauce and the brown sugar and lemon juice. Pour over rolls and simmer, covered, 1 1/2 hours, basting occasionally.
