Stuffed Cabbage Rolls

- 1 c. rice (uncooked)
- 1 lb. hamburger
- 1/2 lb. sausage
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 average size head cabbage, cored
- 1 can whole tomatoes or tomato soup
- 1 clove garlic (optional)
Directions

1Separate leaves of cabbage by steaming in a large pot with water covering half the cabbage.

2Brown onion and garlic.

3Mix hamburger, sausage, salt, pepper and rice until well blended.

4Add browned mixture and mix until blended.

5Take a few spoonfuls of meat mixture and put in cabbage leaves to wrap.

6Proceed until all of the meat mixture is used.

7Place any remaining cabbage leaves on the bottom of the pot in the water where the cabbage was steamed.

8Put cabbage rolls in layers on top of leaves. Pour tomatoes or soup on top.

9Heat until boiling.

10Reduce heat and simmer on low for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
