- 2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 3/4 c. butter
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 egg
Directions

1Beat softened butter, sugar and egg in a large bowl at high speed for 3 minutes.

2Blend in vanilla.

3Stir in flour to make a stiff dough.

4Wrap in wax paper and chill 3 hours or until firm. Roll dough one quarter at a time to 1/4-inch thickness on a lightly floured surface.

5Cut cookies out with desired shapes and place 1-inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet.

6Decorate as you wish.

7Bake at 350° for 8 minutes.

8Remove to wire rack to cool.
