- 2 c. milk
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 1 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 baked (8 or 9-inch) pie shell
- butter
- nutmeg
Directions

1Combine milk and butter in medium saucepan.

2Cook over low heat until butter is melted.

3Remove from heat.

4Combine sugar and cornstarch in small bowl.

5Gradually stir in 1 cup warm milk mixture, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.

6Add cornstarch-milk mixture to remaining milk mixture in saucepan.

7Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thickened.

8Remove from heat; add vanilla.

9Pour into pie shell.

10Dot with butter and sprinkle with nutmeg.

11Chill until firm.
