Sugarless Apple Pie

  • pastry for double crust 9-inch pie
  • 1 (6 oz.) can frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 5 to 6 McIntosh or similar apples, pared and sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. margarine
  • water
  • nutmeg to taste

Directions

    With a wire whisk, stir together undiluted juice and mixture of cornstarch, cinnamon and salt.

    Heat to consistency of gravy. Pour over apples.

    mixture into prepared pie shell; dot with margarine.

    Cover with top crust; cut slits in crust to allow steam to escape.

    Sprinkle lightly with water and nutmeg to taste. Bake at 450° for 15 minutes, then at 350° for 30 more minutes.
