- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 egg white
- 1 c. flour
- 3/4 c. nuts
- jam for filling
Directions

1Cream butter; add sugar and cream until light.

2Beat egg yolks slightly and add.

3Blend in flour.

4Form into 1-inch balls.

5Finely chop nuts.

6Dip balls into egg white (unbeaten), then nuts.

7Place on a greased cookie sheet and press fairly flat with a glass.

8Bake in a slow oven at 300° for 5 minutes.

9Remove from oven and press center down; bake 15 minutes longer.

10Cool and fill with jam. Makes 15 to 18 cookies.
