Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 8 oz. can water chestnuts, drained and chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/3 c. dry bread crumbs
  • 4 tsp. beef flavor instant bouillon
  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. lemon juice
  • 1/4 c. catsup
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • chopped parsley (optional)

Directions

    In a large bowl, combine meat, water chestnuts, eggs, bread crumbs, bouillon and Worcestershire sauce.

    Mix well.

    Shape into 1 1/4-inch meat balls.

    In a large skillet, brown meat balls, a few at a time.

    Remove from pan and pour off fat.

    In a medium bowl, combine remaining ingredients except for parsley; mix well.

    Pour into skillet.

    Cook over medium heat until sauce thickens.

    Reduce heat and add meat balls.

    Simmer for 10 minutes.

    Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.
