- 7 pounds fresh cucumbers
- 2 qts white vinegar
- 4 pounds sugar
- 1 T celery seed
- 1 T mixed pickling spice
- 1 T whole cloves
- 1 T pickling salt (do not substitute)
Directions

1Peel cucumbers and slice 3/4 inch thick.

2Seed cucumbers with a doughnut cutter.

3Soak cucumbers overnight in lime water (2 cups builders lime to 2 gallons of water).

4Rinse very well.

5Cover with ice water for 3 hours.

6Drain.

7Cover with vinegar, sugar spice mix and allow to stand overnight.

8Bring to a boil and cook 35 minutes. Jar and seal.

9Makes 6-7 pints.
