  • 1 onion, sliced and separated into rings
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 3/4 c. pickling salt
  • 2 qt. crushed ice
  • 4 c. sugar
  • 3 1/2 c. vinegar (5% acidity)
  • 2 Tbsp. mustard seed
