1Slice about 2 quarts cucumbers in bowl.

2Salt very heavily and let stand for 4 hours.

3Rinse in clear water, then pour boiling water to cover.

4Let stand until cool enough to stand your hand in water.

6Mix equal cups of sugar and vinegar; for instance, 1 cup sugar for 1 cup vinegar.

7For one quart, use 1 tablespoon pickling spice.

8For 1 pint, use 1 teaspoon.

9Soaking cucumbers in a salt brine makes them crisp.

10Use 1 cup salt to 2 quarts water.
