  • 1 gal. sour or dill pickles
  • 5 lb. sugar
  • garlic
  • whole cloves
  • whole allspice

    Drain pickles.

    Cast off ends.

    Slice 1-inch thick.

    Layer pickles, then sugar.

    Add some garlic, cloves and allspice.

    Add more sugar.

    Continue until pickles are used.

    Be sure to use all 5 pounds of sugar.

    Refrigerate 7 days.

    Stir and shake each day.
