- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 3 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
- .13 tsp. ground allspice
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. cold butter
- 3 tbsp. cold vegetable shortening
- 1 c. mashed sweet potato
- 6 tbsp. milk
- 2 tsp. melted butter
Directions

1Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2Combine flour, baking powder, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice and salt in a bowl.

3Add cold butter and vegetable shortening and mix until crumbly.

4Add mashed sweet potatoes and milk.

5Stir until you have dough.

6Chill dough in refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes.

7Knead dough on floured surface do not overwork.

8Roll dough to a 1/2-inch thickness and cut with a 1 1/2-inch biscuit cutter.

9Place biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

10Brush tops of biscuits with melted butter.

11Bake for 12 minutes or until nicely browned.
