- 1 (3 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 12 cup butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 34 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon butter, softened
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 dash salt
- 23 cup pecans, finely chopped and divided
- maraschino cherry, halved (optional)
Directions

1For pastry blend cream cheese and butter until smooth.

2Stir in flour.

3Cover and refrigerate for about 1 hour.

4Roll into twenty four, 1-inch balls.

5Place in ungreased miniature muffin tins or small cookie tarts.

6Press the dough against bottom and sides to form shell.

7Set aside.

8In a bowl, beat brown sugar, butter and egg until combined.

9Add vanilla, salt and half of the pecans.

10Spoon into the pastry.

11Top with remaining pecans.

12Bake at 375F for 20 minutes or until filling is set and pastry is light golden brown.

13Cool and remove from pans.

14Top each with a maraschino half, if desired.
