Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. sugar
  • 18 to 20 Tbsp. shortening, melted
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 orange rind, grated or lemon
  • 1 tsp. orange extract or lemon
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • self-rising flour

Directions

    Cream melted shortening with sugar.

    Blend in eggs, orange rind, extract and milk.

    Mix well, then add self-rising flour until hard and firm.

    Continue to knead in dry flour until real firm, then roll out.

    Bake in a 400° oven for 10 to 12 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
