Ingredients

  • 1 large onion
  • 5 stalks celery plus leaves, chopped
  • 1/2 cube oleo
  • 1 clove garlic, smashed
  • 4 carrots, sliced
  • 1 large potato, cubed
  • 1 c. dried peas
  • 8 c. water
  • 1 c. precooked rice
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt or to taste
  • 1 tsp. McKay's seasoning
  • 1 can milk
  • cottage cheese

Directions

    Saute the onion, celery and garlic in oleo.

    Add the next 4 ingredients.

    Cook 45 minutes to 1 hour.

    Add 1 cup precooked rice the last 15 minutes.

    Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt or to taste. Add McKay's seasoning.

    Before serving, add milk.

    Serve with a scoop of cottage cheese in soup bowl.
