- 40 to 45 saltine crackers
- 1/2 lb. (2 sticks) butter or margarine
- 3/4 tsp 1 c. packed brown sugar
- 1 (12 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
- 1/2 to 1 c. finely chopped almonds (optional)

10In a small saucepan,

11melt butter with brown sugar, blending well. Bring the mixture

12to a boil, stirring often.

13Pour the sugar mixture evenly over the crackers.

14Bake at 350° for 5 minutes or so,

16the toffee evens out.

17Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate

18chips over top of the toffee.

19As the chips melt, smooth the chocolate evenly over the toffee.
