- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 c. coconut
- 1 c. flour, sifted
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. nuts
Directions

1Combine shortening and salt, add 1/2 cup of brown sugar. Cream thoroughly.

2Add 1 cup flour and blend.

3Spread mixture in baking pan that is greased.

4Bake at 325° for 15 minutes.

5Add remaining 1 cup of brown sugar and vanilla to the well beaten eggs.

6Beat until thick and foamy.

7Then add 2 tablespoons flour, baking powder, coconut, nuts and blend.

8Spread this over baked mixture.

9Return to oven (325°) and bake 25 minutes.

10Cool and cut into bars.

11Use 8 x 12-inch pan.
