- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. sifted flour
- 1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 2 tsp. flour
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1 c. coconut
- 1 c. black walnuts
Directions

1Mix the following and press into a 6 x 10-inch pan or an 8 x 8-inch pan:

2shortening, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup brown sugar.

3Bake at 325° for 15 minutes.

4Then mix 1 cup brown sugar, vanilla, eggs, baking powder, 2 teaspoons flour, 1/4 teaspoon salt, coconut and walnuts.

5Place on top of first mixture and bake for 25 minutes longer.

6Cut in squares.
