- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. brown sugar
- 1 c. flour
- 1 c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 1 c. flake coconut
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 c. chopped nuts
Directions

1Combine shortening, salt and 1/2 cup brown sugar.

2Cream thoroughly.

3Add 1 cup flour and blend.

4Spread this mixture in an 8 x 12-inch pan (greased).

5Bake at 350° for 15 minutes or less. Check when light brown.

6Take out of oven and add 1 cup brown sugar and vanilla to beaten eggs.

7Beat until foamy.

8Add 2 tablespoons flour, baking powder, coconut and nuts.

9Blend and spread over first mixture.

10Return to oven and bake 25 minutes until brown. Cool and cut into squares.
