Tomato Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1/3 c. oil
  • 6 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 c. tomatoes, chopped fine
  • 2 c. water
  • 3 or 4 Tbsp. sugar

Directions

    Brown flour in oil; add tomatoes, salt and pepper.

    Cook, stirring until smooth.

    Add water, cook until thick.

    If raw tomatoes are used, cook longer to be sure tomatoes are done.

    Add more sugar if too tart.

    Serve with hot biscuits, sausage or bacon.
