  • 2 (10 oz.) tomato puree
  • 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. fresh bread, cut in 2-inch squares
  • 1/2 c. butter, melted

Directions

    Mix tomato puree, 1/2 cup boiling water, brown sugar and salt and boil 10 minutes.

    Put bread in buttered casserole.

    Pour 1/2 cup melted butter over bread.

    Add tomato mix.

    Bake 30 to 40 minutes, covered, in 300° oven.

    Only tomato puree works.
