Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice(u can use any other rice)
  • 2 large ripe red tomatoes(chopped)
  • 2 medium onions(thinly sliced)
  • 3 medium green chillies(sliced in large pieces)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp sugar
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 inch cinamon stick
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 salt to taste
  • 1 3/4 cup water(or according to ur measurement & preference of rice)

Directions

    add water,bay leaf,cinamon stick to rice & cook it in either a pressure cooker or in a saucepan(discard the bay leaf & cinamon stick after cookin rice)

    heat oil in a frying pan!

    !when the oil is hot add the cumin seeds

    when the cumin starts to crackle add the chillies and onions!!

    !fry the onions till they start to turn golden!

    now add the turmeric powder,coriander powder and salt to the onions!!!

    !sprinkle a little water so that the spices dont burn!!

    fry for a minute & then add the tomatoes & sugar!!!

    !fry the tomatoes till they turn soft

    now add the cooked rice & mix well!!!
