- 3/4 cups Butter Flavored Shortening
- 1 cup Sugar, Plus More For Rolling Cookies
- 1 whole Egg
- 1/4 cups Molasses
- 2 cups Flour
- 2 teaspoons Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon Cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoons Ginger
- 1/2 teaspoons Salt
- 1/4 teaspoons Cloves
- 1/4 teaspoons Cardamom
Directions

1Cream the shortening and sugar. Add egg and molasses and beat well. Sift the dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, salt, cloves, cardamom) together and add to the egg-molasses mixture.

2Mold into small balls and roll in granulated sugar. Do not flatten.

3Bake at 350°F for about 10 minutes. Yum!

5You can also just use 1/2 teaspoon cloves and omit the cardamom. You can also roll this in raw sugar, which makes them prettier.
